Day 112: June 6th
The swallow and upper GI study went well. Ryker drank 42ml’s for the doctors so they had a good opportunity to look over all of what was happening. His feeding specialist was the one who fed him and mentioned he isn’t aspirating, but is not swallowing correctly, leaving him at a high risk of aspirations. It likely has to do with his severe brain bleed. He did brady once during the study, but it was not due to aspiration which was good. However, they aren’t quite sure why he had an event. From what they’ve seen though, it doesn’t appear they’ll be changing his feeding plan. He will continue to attempt a bottle, and will be fed the remainder of his feeds through his NG tube.
Waiting to hear more about the final result of the study tomorrow..
