Our Family

Day 125: June 19th

Results came back from his MRI. Most everything they had seen via ultrasound in regards to his brain bleed was present in the MRI. The only surprise they came across was the presence of chairi malformation, in which the brain is pushed down into his spinal cord. From the sounds of it, it is a mild case. Just another thing that will also be monitored as he gets older.

They’ve also decided to modify his feeds a bit to add in 25% worth of fortified breastmilk to his thick”milkshake” Similac Spit Up formula he’s on for reflux. We’re hoping this will help him maintain the caloric intake he’s needing as well as help him pass stools a bit easier.

I called in and checked in on the nugget once the girls were in bed. I spoke to one of his night time primaries, Jordan, who said he had a hard time taking his first bottle of the evening. With the change in feed, his Occupational Therapist had decided to switch his bottle nipple size down to a level 1 flow (down from 2) since the combination of breastmilk made his feed a tad less thick. His OT was able to get him to take 100ml’s in 20 minute without spitting up at his noontime feed. However he was not having much luck this evening.. She said he barely took 20ml’s in 50 minutes, and threw up. Poor guy. So she hunted down another size 2 bottle in hopes to allow him to eat his bottles easier.

On a positive note, he did gain 64 grams! Which is awesome. He’s now gained weight for the last 3 nights! Looking forward to hearing what they say at rounds tomorrow.
