Day 21: March 7… 3lbs 3.5oz
I received a call this morning saying they had confirmed transporting Ryker over to Children’s Hospital. I booked it down to Denver after visiting with the in-laws & Zylee. That kid is hilarious. I stopped by to bring wipes and say hello. Zylee ran up to me, gave me a big hug and snuggles, then told me “thank you, bye!” B I had only been there for a couple of minutes. I stayed a bit to spend some time with her. She snatched my hat and started running around the house with it completely over her face, giggling the whole time. She soon started showing signs that she was ready for her morning nap. As soon as she was put down, she was shouting “thank you” down the hall, and went right to sleep. Such a goofball.
I made it to the hospital about a minute prior to when transport arrived. They got his gear switched over and put him onto the gurney. The bed portion reminded me of a pizza box warmer that the delivery drivers use. We took the 5 minute ambulance ride across the street and got him all set up in his new room. He happily screamed at all the nurses as they transferred him to his new bed. So nice to see his feisty spirit shining through despite all the medical issues he’s dealing with.
He settled in quite nicely once all of the nurses and respiratory care were finished messing with him. After resting a bit, he was wide awake and checking out his surroundings. I love seeing him so alert and curious.
We had a few neurologists come and examine him, and request that we move to surgery. Originally it was planned for this evening, but just received word (of course as Nick is half way down here) that they are moving it to tomorrow morning at 11am. Little man has had an eventful day, probably best to give him a night to rest before surgery.
My adventures today included relabeling all of the milk supply I’ve gathered for the NICU. The nurses at UC health had mentioned last week that I could start just storing milk at home considering the stock they had. Now I see why… it took me about an hour to relabel all of it!
