Day 24: March 10th, 2019… 3lbs 9.84oz
Still haven’t heard an update on the head ultrasound. Apparently Saturday Night and all day Sunday is the day the unit does all of their ultrasounds, and getting a report takes time. He did receive a blood transfusion last night, and they’ll check his hematocrit levels tomorrow to see if it improves.
They did another chest X-Ray this morning as well. It appeared the portion of his lung that looked deflated, now looked better, however the rest of his right lung looked worse than it did the day prior. Blood gas levels still weren’t great, and they commented on how he’s had a fair amount of secretion pulled from his lungs as well, and are sending it to the lab to be tested. It could be a number of things.. It could be HIS normal, some kids just secrete more than others when on the ventilator, or it could be a sign of respiratory infection. I felt like when he was on the ventilator at the other hospital, they were constantly pulling fluids out, but never really brought it up as a concern. But, I’d rather they double check and rule things out. They did up his ventilator settings this afternoon to see if that may be a factor to why his lung looks worse than it did yesterday. They’ll do another X-Ray tomorrow.
Ryker’s neuro team stopped by earlier today as well and said they were pleased with the progress of his shunt. They’ll continue to monitor him closely.
He had another visit from his big sisters today, as well as uncle Josh and poppa Brian. Zylee woke up this morning running around saying “baby! Where’d it go?!”. Addi’s just over the moon about her baby brother, and can’t wait to bring him home. Zylee actually fell asleep in her stroller this afternoon, which is a first! This kid won’t sleep unless she is in her bed.. Facebook happened to share a memory post today of Addi when she was about 7 months old falling asleep in her high chair. This was Addi’s norm.. She would fall asleep anywhere. It’s funny how different kids are! Hopefully Zylee will continue this trend as it’ll save her (and us) some sanity.
Addi and I explored the first floor where a group of highschoolers had created a fun event for the kids & siblings who are staying at the hospital. Activities included ring toss, mini golf, crafting, face painting, and a visit from Cinderella. Earlier in the week they were making paper airplanes, and were throwing them off the different floors into the lobby area. I love that they do this! Lets kids be kids during their stay at the hospital.
