Day 26: March 12th.. 3lbs 13.4oz… head circumference: 28.2cm
I finally got an update on Ryker’s head ultrasound from his neurosurgeon. All looks good! He still has a small pocket of fluid on his scalp, but it’s nearly fully absorbed. His surgeon is quite pleased with his progress.
Now the next step is to get him back up to date on his respiratory care. He’s still on the ventilator since surgery, and continues to have random drops in his oxygen saturation levels. He had another X-ray done this morning to confirm the ventilator tubes are still in the appropriate place, and see if there were any other signs that could tell them what’s going on. All looked good.. They aren’t quite sure what is causing it.. The neonatologist is wanting to get him off the ventilator sooner than later though. He mentioned if there isn’t much progress by the weekend, they’ll do a low dose steroid in hopes to get Ryker progressing.
Otherwise it was a fairly calm day again. I hopped over to the other hospital this afternoon for their boredom busters craft day. This was wonderful when I was in the antenatal department, waiting for our little guy to be born. I decided to start my first quilt, with the thought I had at least 8 weeks ahead before I’d be delivering. Little did I know I’d only get a couple of sessions to work on it. So I’ve been chipping at it away slowly.I couldn’t have done it without the help of the volunteers who put it on! Can’t wait to start another one, once this is complete.
