Day 34: March 20th
He was extubated!!! And back onto the CPAP machine! His night nurse said he looks like a whole new kid, so much more content and alert. He didn’t even get agitated during cares.
When I had called in this morning, he was still on a rate of 12 on his vent, his chest X-ray didn’t look much different than the last one he had, and it wasn’t sounding quite like it was going to happen today. The doctors had yet to do there rounds though when I checked in, so an official plan had yet to be determined.
He has had a few drops in heart rate rather than oxygen levels since being switched over. However this is common in premature babies, especially under 35 weeks. He’ll be 33 weeks as of Friday. The docs don’t seem too alarmed at this rate. Hopefully he’ll continue to do well on cpap, and won’t need to be back on the vent.
Addi and I went and explored IKEA for our adventure today. She insisted on trying out the different couches by flopping face first on them. Such a goof. we were both ready for a nap afterwards.
