Day 50: April 5
Happy 7 weeks to little Ryker! I can hardly believe out little guy is nearly 2 months old! 50 days in the NICU has flown by much faster than the 17 days Zylee was in the NICU… but perhaps part of it is because I’m also chasing an active little 19 month old daily (see above post).
I had to stop in Fort Collins for a Doctor check up on Z. I called in to check on little man. His nurse this morning said his heart rate has elevated in the 190’s and his respiratory rate was high as well. So they’ve bumped him to CPAP of 6, which seems to have helped calm everything down again. They were hoping to drop his CPAP settings down to 5 again later in the day, but ultimately decided to keep him at 6 overnight and see how he’s doing in the morning. We’ve now taken one step backwards in the game plan.. but when he’s ready to stride forward, he will show us.
They’ve also doubled his iron supplement in hopes to give him a boost to get those red blood cells growing. Sounds like we’ll have an uneventful weekend of just healing and growing.
