Day 58: April 13
Visited our little man today. Addi and Zylee were both excited to see baby brother. Zylee is just now tall enough to touch his little toes when she stands on the stool. She was so sweet, repetitively saying “baby” as she tucked his toes.
Ryker seems to be having some issues with his glucose levels. They still haven’t been able to get him down from receiving his feeds over a 2 hour span. He had a significant drop in blood sugar levels earlier in the day, so his nurses have been checking his glucose levels at every feed. He’s also been having some bradycardia events the last couple of days… Nick pointed out how firm the pocket of fluid on his head has felt too.. he has his weekly head ultrasound tomorrow, hopefully it’ll give us some answers.
In other exciting news..23 went back to Ronald McDonald house to put Zylee down for a nap before dinner. After getting all settled in, we were startled by the fire alarm. Poor Addi panicked. She was jittery to the core, grabbed her new fun facts book, shoes, and box of cereal.. goofy kid left her jacket behind. Priorities in an emergency 😂😂. We watched as the fire department ran into the building and extended their truck ladder to check the roof. It was pretty neat to watch, and honestly I think it was the first time I had ever seen it in person!
All was clear. Apparently the volunteers who were making us dinner had spilled some oil in the oven, which set off the fire alarms. The firemen has to rush back to their truck as they were receiving another call. We went back to our room, got settled in and Zylee down for a nap again, only to be startled once more by the fire alarm… I told Addi to leave her box of cereal behind this time! We ran back down the 3 flights of stairs and waited for the first department to show up again to confirm no fire and shut off the alarms. At this point there was only 20 minutes before dinner was supposed to be ready, so we hung out in the first floor play room until then. It would also make it easier to exit the building incase the alarms were set off a third time. Zylee was running around and ironically found a fireman hat in one of the toy bins and put it on. She was running around the room saving the babies 😂.
