Day 6: February 20th …2lbs 10oz…
Nick’s parents were so kind enough to set up their home last night for us to stay, so I wasn’t having to deal with the 3 levels in our condo. Addi and Zylee were there as well. It was such a treat to wake up to their noises! Zylee seemed super shocked and confused as to why I was there, but warmed up pretty fast. She has changed SO MUCH in the 5 weeks I’ve been away. We would face time every day, and they’d be down every Saturday for a couple of hours, but still, my little peanut has grown and changed so much! Nick’s dad dropped me off at the hospital today so I could stay in the family room for a couple of nights. I was so excited to see our little guy, especially since they had mentioned the day prior that they had intended to wean him off the oscillator and move him to the conventional ventilator (a HUUUUGGE step in the right direction!). I walked in to his little cubicle and sure enough, he had transferred over seamlessly! I hung out with Z in the playroom at the NICU so Nick’s dad could get some time with Ryker (kiddos aren’t allowed in due to flu season). Zylee was practicing her big sister skills already, walking around with a baby doll, putting it in a high chair and feeding it. I think she’s going to love being a big sis as much as Addi has absolutely adored the title for the last 18 months. This afternoon they decided to start Ryker on some heart medicine. As mentioned yesterday, he has a small hole in his heart (PDA), and they said the medicine should help heal up the hole. Poor kid had to get his IV in his forehead though, after two failed attempts in his legs (his arms already are full with pic line and IV). The meds should be done tomorrow evening. Bilirubin levels were up slightly so they decided to start the light therapy again just to be ahead of the game.
