Day 64: April 19, 2019
Little rocket had a much better day today. He still had a few drops in saturation but he would pull himself out of them most of the time, if anything a small boost of oxygen from the vent would help him.
They did an X-ray this morning. His right lung still didn’t look great, so they continued to work on getting the gunk out of his chest. They’ve upped his feeds and decided to stop one of his antibiotics as all his blood cultures came back negative! Wohoo!
He had another dose of diuretic as he was still looking pretty puffy this morning. That stuff works almost instantly for him, he fills a diaper in record time, and usually soaks the sheets for several diaper changes.
Ryker had another X-ray this evening. His right lung looks SO much better, although his left lung looks a bit hazy now. Hopefully we can get everything cleared in the next day or two. They have been able to drop his oxygen levels finally, he was down to 54% on the vent when I left around 10pm! Hoping we get extubated again soon. I think he’ll be a lot happier when that happens.
He did spit up one feed this evening, but he’s now eating twice as he was 24 hours ago over a 45 minute span. They decided to extend the feed a bit longer and see how he tolerates the continued increase in meals. The goal is to get him back to 56ml’s by tomorrow. Overall though, he had a much better day.
