Day 94: May 19th

Ryker is now sitting at 200cc’s of oxygen. I guess he’s just needing the extra pressure to keep his vitals stable. Hopefully we can work on going down again next week.

I was able to give him a big boy bath today, which was a first for me. He really seemed to enjoy it! Addi was a great little photographer, capturing his bath time & the little outfit from uncle Will, his girlfriend Michelle, and his mom Cindy. He looked so handsome.

Nick was able to feed him during his noontime meal. Ryker did fairly well until about half way through his bottle. He threw up and then started having Bradycardia events. I had to leave the room.. my anxiety is through the roof when this happens.. even though I’m reassured that it’s “normal” for preemie’s to do this as they are learning to coordinate breathing and swallowing.

His nurses keep bringing up that they believe it’s more of a reflux issue than anything. He gets gassy, bears down, and spits up. Sometimes while holding his breath. We just have to work on paving him better and burping him well in between his feed. We’ll get there.. still not easy for me to be around when he has those events though..

He took about half his bottle at noon, slept through his 3pm feed, ate his whole 6pm feed, then half a bottle again at 9pm & 12am. At least he is attempting more bottles throughout the day, even if he isn’t drinking them whole yet.
